So it begins...
Halloween. It was said that such a day was supposed to be quiet on the supernatural front.

So they said.

But who is 'They' anyway? Cuz they are full of shit.

Faith dusted the last of the four vamp gang she had found. "Damn..." She muttered, thinking she could use a smoke, suicide wings, a cold beer and a good fuck. Not necessarily in that order. Trying to stick to the role of the good guys she'd found herself in after The First and everything, she headed back to Slayer Central. She figured Giles should know about the major activity she had seen tonight. The group of four she had just dusted were vamps 9, 10, 11, and 12. She'd only been out for two and half hours...

She leaned on the reception desk. "Yo. G around or is he over at the Watcher's building?" She asked the young man who was watching the surveillance monitors.

The man shrugged and picked up the phone, using the paging system. "Mr. Giles. Faith is at the front desk. Slayer side." He announced then grinned at Faith. "Makes life easy, doesn't it?"

"Lazy shit." Faith laughed then chatted with him until Giles arrived

Giles took a bit to get there, having been busy as usual - as always. There were always way too many things to do and he usually saw fit to take on most of them himself. At the summons, he gathered a few papers to take with him and headed for said desk to talk to Faith.

Faith had been trying to play the part of the dutiful Slayer. She'd noticed since returning to Sunnydale that Giles and Buffy seemed to have had some sort of falling out. She wondered what the hell Buffy was thinking. Giles loved the blonde (who didn't?!) and he was a damn good Watcher - official or not. "Hey G." She greeted, trying not to fall into old habits of flirtatiousness because she knew it made him uncomfortable. She walked up to him, putting her hand on his arm. "I thought I should let you know that tonight's been pretty vamp heavy. I dusted twelve in les than three hours..."

Giles frowned, but at the news not the touch. Halloween was supposed to be quiet supernatural-wise. Of course, he hadn't seen a quiet Halloween yet, so he shouldn't really be surprised. He fell into Watcher mode naturally, asking her several questions about her encounters: when, where, what happened...those sorts of things, while still determining that she was really okay. He couldn't help but worry about her.

Faith had gotten smart about reporting her patrols and answered his questions almost before he finished asking them. She noticed the way his eyes appraised her, looking for damage. "I'm fine, Giles." She said suddenly, wanting the worry in his eyes to go away, her hand moving to his shoulder then slowly up to his cheek. With a look that expected trouble, she withdrew her hand as though burned. She was still reeling from her falling out with Robin Wood. The former principal had gone to the London branch and everyone was pretty sure it was almost exclusively just to get away from Faith.

Faith hugged herself and jumped back into report mode before she could get in trouble for the intimate caress she'd offered Rupert.

Giles was pleased with her answers and amused at how she knew what he was going to ask almost before he did.

He nodded at the assurance and smiled softly. "I'm glad you're okay." He told her, knowing he should scold her for the intimacy...but somehow not wanting to do so.

Faith glanced at him and smiled softly. "I know you are, Ripper." She tested the name. Buffy had told her about his 'Ripper' days then said she didn't have the guts to call him that to his face. Stupid blonde. What did she know?
ripper_rupert on November 8th, 2005 04:51 am (UTC)
Giles frowned at the name. "Don't call me that." He didn't know how she knew about that, but he certainly didn't want a reminder of the past.

Faith frowned. "Hey, G... I'm sorry." She said sincerely. "It was just some macho shit, y'know? I didn't mean..." She placed her hand on his arm once more.

Giles didn't pull away, didn't make any comment vocal or otherwise on the gesture. "It's fine." He assured her. Though it was unclear if it really was 'fine' or not.

Chastened, Faith withdrew, pulling on attitude like a hood. "Yeah, well. Like I said, a dozen vamps in less than three hours is pretty heavy for a 'slow' night. I was thinkin' about checkin' on Glinda an' the Brat."

She wasn't sure about the Slayer School and figured if the kiddies couldn't take care of themselves when they weren't allowed to go anywhere in any number less than four, they didn't deserve to be here. Yet another thing Faith knew Buffy didn't like about her - her lack of sympathy to the munchkins. Well, why should she feel pity for them? She had been slaying solo for almost three years before she was called - if they couldn't handle it in groups then what the fuck?!
ripper_rupert on December 9th, 2005 05:43 am (UTC)
"They should be fine." Giles replied, though if Faith wanted to check on them, he wouldn't really protest. "Probably heading back soon.
rippers_faith on December 9th, 2005 03:53 pm (UTC)
Faith was practically dancing around him like a nervous horse. "Alright... what should I do?" She asked him glancing furtively at him before lowering her gaze submissively.

The man at the front desk looked between them questioningly. Faith rarely showed vulnerability to anyone but Giles so he was seeing her in a whole new light.
ripper_rupert on December 12th, 2005 03:43 am (UTC)
"If you want to check on them, that's fine." Giles replied. "I won't protest." He also mentioned a few other things Faith could do. There was nothing immediate she was needed for.

"It's Kennedy out there. I'm sure they're five by five. I'll go get that other stuff done." Faith shrugged.

The older girls had had a party - which was still alive and strong. Faith figured that's where Buffy probably was. She might check it out after she was done with the things Giles had mentioned but she doubted it. She was with the SlayerBabies almost all the time. She didn't much feel the need to socialize with them just for kicks too.

"Sure there isn't anything else that needs done?" Faith offered Giles.
